For a couple months, my sister has been suggesting we go out to eat pho. Today, our schedules finally synced and we could go out for lunch. She’s had pho many times and love it. However, this was my first time eating pho and since I love ramen I figured this had to be pretty good as well. Since we don’t live in the same city, a halfway spot for both us was Pho Ly Ly in New Iberia, LA. It was a pho restaurant she had heard good reviews about and wanted to give it a try. Of course, I’m always down for trying new restaurants and finding hidden gems I may not know about.

What’s on the table…

Keep reading to get the all the details about what we ordered and what we thought about each of the dishes.

Here’s what we ordered:

Crab rangoon – These were yummy! My sister and I both enjoyed this appetizer. The rangoons were piping hot when the waitress brought them to the table. It also came with sweet n’ sour sauce for dipping. Crab rangoon is one of the go-to appetizers that we tend to order when eating Asian food.

Steamed and pan-fried dumplings – My sister ordered the steamed and my daughter ordered the pan-fried. I tried the pan-fried dumplings, were yummy as well. There was not one dumpling left on the plate – they were that tasty.

Pho Tai Bo Vien – Noodle soup with eye round steak and meatball. My sister ordered this dish and said it could use a more flavor. She did add the bean sprouts, lime, and jalapenos to her bowl. But the broth is what was lacking. Well, the broth is what makes the dish.

Chicken fried rice – My daughter ordered this dish. She said it was good and would order it again. I took a few spoonfuls and thought it taste very good also.

Pho Ga-Thit Trang (Chicken Noodle Soup) – Noodle with natural chicken broth and slicked white chicken meat. It was good, but I wish the star anise flavor would have been a little stronger. I also added a couple of the jalapenos to my bowl, unless you ate the jalapeno it didn’t do anything to enhance the flavor.
